DataCrew was founded in 1992 by a group of recently
retired middle and upper level managers from Bellsouth Corporation who had
overseen the design and development of very large scale computer software
systems since the 1960's. At a time when most Bell Operating
companies were still using large mainframes with dumb terminals to support
service representatives in the business offices, they pioneered the use of
mini-computers in a distributed network environment.
Since its inception, DataCrew has focused on the use of distributed
networks of personal computers, first using dBase and eventually moving to
various versions of SQL.
Some of the latest systems
developed by DataCrew make use of distributed databases via wide area
virtual private networks as well as web based systems.
